Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities

Summer Festivities Montage Banner

The Kirkcudbright Tattoo - sponsored by    Hayton Coulthard Ltd, Twynholm.

Monday 25th August 2008. 7.30 pm onwards.  (Be there early)

This event forms the climax of the Summer Festivities for the town, and is undoubtedly one of the most popular and well attended.

Large crowds always form in St Cuthbert Street, under the shadow of the Castle, where everyone is presented with a spectacular night of Scottish music and dancing. The night finishes of with a fireworks display and a procession through the streets.

Star performers on the night are the spectacular House of Edgar Shotts and Dykegead Pipe Band[website] and the Kangaroo Gymnastic Display Team (see below). As in previous years our own Kirkcudbright & District Pipe Band, Dumfries Constabulary Pipe Band, and our very popular Stewartry Area Wind Band with Galloway Pipers will provide the mainstay of the entertainment. There will be dancing from the Kay Alexander Highland Dancers and our local Scottish Country Dancers.

Admission to the Tattoo is by ticket only, tickets on sale at the small charge of £2.00 per person. Spectator numbers will therefore be strictly controlled and participant safety will not be compromised.

As numbers of spectators are being restricted tickets for the Tattoo will undoubtedly be highly sought after. As no cash will be taken at the entrance points to the event tickets must be purchased beforehand. Depending on how many tickets remain unsold, a few may be available on the night at our ticket office in Soaperie Gardens. But make sure you get your tickets early if you don’t want to miss the show.Tickets will be on sale at our other events being held over the summer months and in our thrift shop in St Mary Street. They will also be available at Solway Books, Thomsons, and Mitchell's Keystore in Kirkcudbright, and at the Star Hotel, Twynholm and The Toffee Shop, Castle Douglas.

Tickets may also be purchase by post. Please send a cheque for the total amount at £2.00 per ticket, payable to Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities, complete with a stamped addressed envelope to Irene Robertson, 14 Buchanan Street, Kirkcudbright, DG6 4AL.
