KIRKCUDBRIGHT ACADEMY HALF-MARATHON

The 2007 Kirkcudbright Half Marathon saw one of the race's closest finishes in years. Neil Renault (number 29) of Long Eaton Running Club pipped Paul Arcari (number 1) of Kilbarchan AAC by just 9 seconds. In 3rd place was Alastair Morrison (number 62) of Dumbarton AAC.

Also of Kilbarchan AAC was Hayley Haining (number 80) who won the ladies' race. Hayley has also been a winner of the race in the past and hold the ladies record. Local girl Samantha Kelly (number 39) was the top Kirkcudbright runner. A total of 243 runners took part.

Of course there was much more to Marathon day than the runners. A very large number of entries (174+) were received for the sponsored half-marathon walk which set off at 11am. Walkers for Cancer Research charities were very much in evidence although many good causes benefited from the days exertions. Below is a flavour of the day showing many of the people taking part.
